Biotechnologist with a passion for mass spectrometry

Adrian Soboń is an experienced specialist in LC-MS/MS techniques, a PhD in biological sciences, who for years has successfully combined the world of biology, chemistry and modern analytical techniques. Already during his studies at the University of Lodz, he was fascinated by the possibility of “eavesdropping” on biochemical processes taking place in organisms – this curiosity turned into a scientific and professional passion over time. On a daily basis, he combines the competencies of a biologist and analyst, implementing an interdisciplinary approach to scientific research and development projects. His main working tool is liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), which he uses in both basic research and practical applications. His interests include metabolomics, lipidomics and protemics of biological processes, biotransformation of xenobiotics, analytical toxicology and LC-MS/MS applications in clinical diagnostics and pharmacology.

Research interests

He focuses on applications of advanced analytics in biology, medicine and environmental protection. His interests include:

  • Metabolomics, lipidomics and proteomics – analysis of molecular changes in response to environmental agents, drugs or pathogens
  • Biotransformation of xenobiotics – tracking the fate of chemicals in organisms, with a focus on their degradation mechanisms
  • Analytical toxicology – identification and determination of chemical contaminants and their metabolites in biological and environmental samples
  • Clinical diagnostics – development and implementation of LC-MS/MS methods for the determination of disease biomarkers, drugs and their metabolites, among others, in the context of drug concentration-monitored therapy (TDM)
  • Mitra and microsampling – development and implementation of methods for sample preparation and LC-MS/MS analysis of biological material collected on the revolutionary Mitra sampler
